I have another friend who had a similar surgery and described exactly this recovery scenario and oooof indeed it sounds insane/baroque/medieval/Inquisitional.
On a lighter note, the older I get, the more I find myself whispering two phrases in mixed company: "how dare you" and "so it begins." I intend to go out after scaring as many people as possible.
Er, thanks for giving me something I didn't know I needed to worry about. That sounds horrible!! And the apparatus for your face; it's like a donut for hemorrhoid surgery-- not that I'd know, but I've heard things...
Cataract surgery will be a breeze after what you’ve already been through! Cataract surgery really IS easy to get through and recover from. I had both eyes done last fall, and it was the easiest surgery recovery I’ve ever had.
Oh my gosh, Alice! I was laughing at those pictures, but shame on me...that is NOT funny! I had a Dacryocystorhinostomy in November (they make a hole to bypass your tear duct) and that's the extent of the eye stuff I want to deal with. You are a rock star!
So...do you have to do the face-down thing if they do one of the not-gas-bubble options? (And if not...WHY DON'T THEY ONLY DO THE NON-GAS-BUBBLE OPTIONS???)
omg, I would need neck surgery after two weeks of holding my neck like that. I mean, I am hobbled after my head is in that position, face up for just a few hours a night, or when I am head down in watercolor painting. And omg, the sinus pain from being pain pain if an hour on a massage table is any indication. Seriously, how did you neck and shoulders hold up? And you couldn't raise your head AT ALL for two weeks? Like, not for 20 seconds? And how's your vision now?
Wow. I had no idea you went through that and am awed. Of the many medical procedures that terrify me - that is in the top five. Grateful to know you are well on the other side of that one! Thanks for writing about it - and incredibly being humourous at the same time - genius! - Arianne

OMG, this is so informative. And it's caused by aging?? What happens if you don't get yourself a surgery?
I love the humor in how you presented an excruciating ordeal.

But is your eye okay now???

I kinda want to see the pictures...
